I began doing design work for the historic Jackson Blacksmith Shop the summer of 2022. Originally, it was just supposed to be designing a new website. However, it grew into an entire rebrand headed by myself and the Board of Directors of the Shop.
The project first began with the development of a new logo. The anvil is synonymous with blacksmith shops, however it is common among logos for blacksmiths. So, through research of the shops history, I found a unique claw hammer made by the shops founder, Henry Jackson, which is now in the negative space of the logo along the year the shop was founded.
Once a logo was decided on, the next steps were to establish official branding standards
From there, I went on to design other merchandise for the blacksmith shop including shirts, which I printed myself, business cards, and a banner.
